Why no screen for editing after clicking "media" & selecting image?

  I am trying to upload an image to go with my first blog. I read the instructions and followed them. They say, after clicking the media button, “Once the image is uploaded, you’ll see a screen like this:” but I don’t get that screen. Instead it just appears to hyperlink my pdf image file to the first two words of text in the blog.

  PDFs aren’t images.
  If you wish to actually insert a PDF instead of linking to it, you can do it via Scribd:
