Why no warning to save draft before exiting?

What’s with the new dashboard? Why is there no warning to save draft before exiting? I have lost two posts that I spent a lot of time on. Can you put in a warning to save before exiting, WordPress?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.

See also if applicable > restoring from trash http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash(If you are referring to a Page then see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-revisions/)
If you cannot locate a revision or restore from Trash the content has been lost and cannot be recovered.
I recommend:
Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add NewImmediately after creating a post and entering a title click the save draft link. Thereafter, save frequently.
Always allow pages to fully load before clicking any other links.
Click “save draft” frequently when creating posts or pages.
Never leave a post or page open for content creation or editing and walk away from it. Save it properly and return to edit it later.
Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

I have just blown three hours’ work because the new dashboard/post mechanism does not perform automatic saves as the old one did, so there is no ‘trail’ of revisions to follow and no warning of this fact.
By hitting the ‘backspace’ by mistake an entire blog was eliminated and none of the above helps recover as no revision is listed anywhere. Curiously though it does provide the title if you try ‘new blog’. Hugely frustrating to have a software revision foisted on you with no warning of serious changes.
