mcalester matters article: WHY RAPES GO UNREPORTED is moving up to page 2 or 3 on all the search engines; (search any tag). but I am showing almost no views. The article was top comment on Huffington Post Bill Cosby articles for one day. Is there any reason why wordpress is telling me this super important story isn’t getting many hits? It isn’t kind to lie to me at this very difficult time!

Hello there,
Thanks for you note. Regarding your concerns about your stats, I see that you had a spike in hits on November 22:
https://mcalestermatters.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=stats&blog=63308128&day=2014-11-22You topped off that day at 506 views. Also, folks who read your article via Reader, or RSS feed, do not appear as hits on your site. This is because they never have to go to your site to read the article.
Additionally, hits aren’t the only reason stories move up in popularity on Google. It’s possible other people have added an external link to your site on their own websites. If your link has been published on multiple sites (even if it is never visited) it will rise in rank in Google.
I see that the story has had 200+ shares on both Twitter and Facebook, which coincides with the amount of hits you’ve had to your post.
I hope this helps clear things up. There doesn’t appear to be any technical trouble with your stats. If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Wishing you all the best.
