Why restrict plugins

  • Unknown's avatar

Why are restricted to the plugins we can have on our website when we are paying customers. This is quite frustrating in blogger we have access to plugins when we are not even paying. You will lose paying customers in the future

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Since plug-ins only run on self-hosted sites and wordpress.org sites, they’re restricted for the free sites or wordpress.com sites due largely to your security.

    this comes from WP

    Plugin Requests

If there is a plugin that you feel is a must-have and would benefit users on WordPress.com, then please let us know in the ideas forum! Tell us what plugin you want, where it can be downloaded and most importantly, why you think it should be included on WordPress.com. All of the feedback is read, and we’re collecting the most numerous requests for implementation.

I want to add google analytics because it offers more and better analytics than your free widget.
I want a plugin to show views on my posts on the website.

  • Hi there,

We already have Google Analytics available on WordPress.com, but it’s only available for users with the Business Plan upgrade. You can find more information here:

I want a plugin to show views on my posts on the website.

Do you mean you want views for individual posts visible directly on the post themselves? That is not possible on WordPress.com, and Google Analytics also won’t give you that ability.

I know they are two things that are different but I want them both. I just find it weird that I am paying customer for my blog here at wordpress.com and i do not have access to things I had access to on my free blogger account.

You might not be the right people to be telling this but i hope you have internal conversations about how your clients feel about your business. I am one disappointed customer. If I want to cancel do i get a refund ?

  • You can cancel any upgrade except for a custom domain within 30 days of purchase for a full refund from the purchases page:

    https://wordpress.com/purchases/

Let me know if you run into any trouble with this process.

Regarding Google Analytics there was an extensive discussion, at the end of which was decided to only offer it to Business Plan users.

I’m sorry to hear you are disappointed, but the information on Google Analytics is clearly communicated on both the plans page and our documentation on Google Analytics, as is the fact that plugins cannot be used on WordPress.com.
