Why several category lists when they are repeats of one and the same?

    Hi, I’m just wondering what the idea is with putting up more than one list of categories on my blog, when I can’t hvae them be different? I wanted to create one list of categories entitled “more academic” and another entitled “less academic” but then they both have the same categories listed under them. I’m not complaining, just wondering what the idea is behind this function.

    Welcome to the club, no one knows exactly why we have so many. I would support they had some vision, but it was either put on hold or was abandoned.

    What you could do is make more and less academic parent categories and then put the other categories under them. Then set the categories widget to display hierarchically.

    The 2.5 admin design allows for only a single category widget.

    You can group your links (in the current version and in future) by grouping them in categories. most themes will respect this and display each category’s links under a separate heading.
