Why should I transfer my domain from HostGator to WordPress

    What is the benefit of the transfer and if I don’t transfer I won’t incur in any extra cost but by transferring I will probably .

    Hello there,

    If you wish to use your own domain and have your site hosted on WordPress.com, you can either transfer your domain or map your domain to the site on WordPress.com.

    Transferring your domain

    Mapping your domain

    However, you will require an upgraded plan no matter you’re doing a transfer or mapping of a domain. Each of the paid plans come with a free credit that allows you to register a domain or transfer/map an existing domain.

    The most cost efficient way is to transfer the domain to WordPress.com and only pay for the yearly subscription fee in one place. If you chose to map your domain to WordPress.com, you’ll have to pay the domain renewal fee with your current domain registrar.
