Why tag?

  I’m using WordPress on my own host.

  Really, why use tags?
  Search bots crawl for keywords, which they get from the actual entry, and you can search for keywords on the blog search.

  Why tag?

  When you tag it will come up on the Tag Surfer page of other people who use the same tag and also when people search the tag at wordpress.com. Basically it’s a way to boost views, and show people what you’re talking about.

  If you’re using wordpress on your own host, you’re in the wrong forum. This is for wordpress.com blogs only. Head over to http://wordpress.org/support

  @lizii, none of those things will happen for the OP because that’s not a wordpress.com blog.
