Why the caption alignment doesn't work?
-
Hi, I need help with adding a caption to an image on my site, thenibloggedit.wordpress.com which uses the Pictorico Theme. The problem is aligning a caption to the center or right doesn’t work, it is always showed on the left bottom side of the image, regardless if the photo is set to align at the center or right. If I’m using the visual editor and change the caption alignment to center, it works, it will show that the caption is at the center, however it will not reflect at the center on previews or on an actual post. But the settings will show the correct alignment, be it aligncenter, alignleft or alignright. Same thing if you view it using the mobile app. If I’m using the text editor and choose the alignment CENTER, it will just generate a setting aligncenter, but once you preview or publish the post, same thing the caption is placed at the left side. Please help. By the way, I also had this problem when I used another theme, I used to have Circa. Thank you

I have tested it on my site using the Pictorico Theme and faced the same issue.
To resolve this issue try adding the following custom CSS code in the CSS editor.
.wp-caption.aligncenter .wp-caption-text { text-align: center; }To add Custom CSS you’ll need the Custom Design upgrade, which you can purchase in your dashboard under Store.

I don’t think you should need custom CSS to center a caption as they should normally be centered by default.
I think this issue may a problem with the theme, as captions do display centered within the post editor.
I’m going to report it to our developers so they can have a look. We’ll keep you posted here.

Yes this is the theme issue and should be fixed in the theme.
I have just posted temporary CSS solution to fix it :)

Vinod – in future, if you encounter something you think is a theme bug, please feel free to add the modlook tag to the post so that staff will be sure to see it. Thanks a bunch!

Hello everyone,
Just to clarify, the theme has been designed with left aligned captions (not centered, not right aligned). I understand it can create a confusion with the visual editor (displaying the captions centered) so I updated the theme to reflect how it would actually look when visiting a site using Pictorico :)
