Why was I charged with deactivated account?
-
This seems to be a theme here. I deleted and deactivated my WP account months ago and I was just charged. I had to sign up again to be able to post this.
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: UnknownThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
I see your site https://folkshelf.com/ is up and running on the wordpress.com platform. It’s obvious you never cancelled and deactivated that domain.
-
I am not sure how that is possible as I deleted everything from my account and deactivated it. Also, because it was deactivated I can no longer log into the account anymore. So how is this possible? I had to sign up to WP all over again to be able to make this complaint.
-
Also, there was nothing indicating a purchase on my account before I deleted it. So where is this billing coming from exactly?
-
Hi there,
folkshelf.com is under a different WordPress.com account than the one you are contacting us from, and the site, account, and upgrades have no history of attempted deletion or deactivation. To confirm ownership, post in this thread under the username/account that purchased the upgrade. Then, I can look into refunding the subscription purchase. Do you happen to remember the login credential for the site?
Let me know if you have any questions.

We are not able to help or provide hints here in the support forums, as verifying account ownership requires us to ask you to provide info that is best not shared in this public venue.
With this in mind, please fill out this form here to the best of your ability: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery
This will send all the info you have to our account recovery team, and from there they will contact you directly to assist you in regaining access to the account that owns folkshelf.com.
Thanks!

I am not able to recover my old account because it’s requesting I fill out the lost password form. So the link is being sent to my email address. But this is the same email address for the old account I want to recover and I recently used it to open a new account since I had to re sign-in into WP to get help. So it’s a crazy cycle.
How do I recover an account using an email address I am currently using for a new account? I think what is most fascinating to me is knowing which account this website is linked to since it is currently deleted yet I am somehow paying money for it but can’t get into it.

Did you read and do as staff-totoro wrote? Just go to https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and please fill out this form here to the best of your ability.
As you have a paid plan you can use the Transaction ID!
-
Yes, I did. But received no email confirming this. I don’t know if it went through. All I want is some help sorting this out rather than being sent in circles.
There were no circles in taking almost £100 from my account. Not even an email confirmation about this transaction.

@cuteve when you filled out the account recovery form, did you see a message like this?
You should be able to recover your account simply by filling out the lost password form with the email address you’ve provided. Please check your spam folder for the reset email.
If you still can’t log in after another reset attempt and checking your spam folder, please resubmit the form below and we’ll try to lend a hand.
If you have already tried a password reset, you can go ahead and request account recovery now by submitting your request below.
If so, please mind that last line: you don’t have another way to reset the password, so you do need to press “Recovery My Account” again.
