why will excerpt not enable?

  Greetings…

  To my bafflement and frustration I am unable to get the summary/excerpt (they are the same yeah?) to work despite having enabled this in the settings… I’m left with this sixteen page essay on the front page and no summary to it, hmmpf…

  By the way, the cavatar will not show either :?

  1. The Excerpt/summary works in very few themes – see here:

  2. There’s nothing related to that in the Settings.

  3. What you need is this:
  http://support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/
  Pay very close attention to the notes on formatting issues.
