Why won't hyperlinks load in a page?

Hi All!

Hyperlinks will not load in my page. After I post the link and then try to preview, the screen reverts to blank. I have tried to post the link about fifteen times thinking I was doing something wrong. I found the issue at this link:

https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpress-is-buggy-right-now-1/page/2?replies=20

but the forum was closed. Can you help? Am I doing something wrong? I am trying to load the link in the “Education” dropdown under “Writing”. Don’t know if it makes any difference but a picture loaded just fine.

Thank you!

• Howdy,

I can’t duplicate the issue. I did notice when looking in the revisions of that page there was an attempt to add a link that didn’t have text or an image to serve as the anchor (e.g. what you click on).

Does this work for you:

1. Open the page in question in the WordPress editor (e.g. https://pagesandstories.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=165&action=edit )
2. Type some text, like “This is the text to click on”
3. Highlight the text with your cursor, then click on the link icon (the little chain).
4. Add in the link e.g. http://wordpress.com
5. Click Add Link
6. Attempt to preview the page.
7. Does the link appear for you?

Thanks!

Hey Kraftbj!

Thanks so much! You are awesome! I feel like an idiot ‘cuz I was trying to insert the link from the text editor instead of the “view” editor. I still don’t understand why that didn’t work but it’s no big deal. :) I did try to click on the paper clip in the view editor but since I had not added any text, it was grayed out and wouldn’t work. Sorry to bother you for my error! Have a great weekend!

• Not a problem! In the text editor, you’ll like need to manually type the text after creating the link. e.g. when you add it in the text editor, it’ll add . You’ll need to type the text in between the > and the .

Cheers!
