Why won't image show on home page?
-
I added a post today “Closer.” When I open my “home” page the image does not show as it does for all of my other posts. My text does show for this post. When I click on the post it opens the post where the image does show and it is fine. I would like the partial image to show as it does for all of the others on my home page and I cannot figure out what I have done differently. I sized the photo to 590 width as that is the max width for this theme. I have also done that for my other posts.
I appreciate any guidance that I can be given. Thank you very much. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I resolved the problem myself. I set the image as the featured image, which I never had to do in the past. I wonder why this is now the case. Once I set the image as the featured image it appeared twice and I had to go back and delete one of them and now it shows one time the way it should.

I’m glad you worked this out.
Did you do anything different with this post than you did with earlier ones? For example, were you posting from the mobile app rather than from your desktop?
-
No, I wasn’t. It is very strange. I can’t see anything diiferent in what I originally did today than what I have done with my other posts. I have done them all from the same computer. I looked in the media library and the image seems to be set up like the others. If this comes up again with anyone else it would be interesting to know the cause of the issue. But in the long run I am very happy that it worked out. Thanks!

It is happening again. Sigh.
1. I posted a new image with text this evening my usual way—no problem.
2. I went back and noticed that the caption had disappeared from the post I had originally wrote to you about on March 7th.
3. I attempted to edit that post (several times) and the caption was there—I did not have to renenter it. But I now have the same problem with that one post only (March 7th post). When you open my home page that is the only one where a partial piece of the image does not show. It is blank with text showing.
4. If I select “set featured image” when editing the post a piece of the image will show on the home page but once you click on that date the whole image will be there two times instead of just one time.
5. As I have said already, this is the only post this has happened with. The size of the art is 570 px x 570 px. I cannot determine anything I am doing differently from my other posts.
6. For now, I left my home page without the piece of art for March 7th so that there is only one image when you click on it to get to the full page’s entry. The mystery continues. . .
Any more ideas?
Thanks again. -
It sounds like there is something about the image or the caption that is causing confusion.
Unfortunately, I don’t see any obvious culprits off the top of my head.
Could you try removing the caption and re-saving the post? If that fixes the photo, we can add the caption back and see what happens.

Just so I understand exactly what I should do, are you saying that I should go to edit and delete the caption and publish it without the caption and see if that solves the problem?
Thanks!

Also, if the answer to my above question is yes, do I delete the caption from the post itself or from the caption area in the media file?
Thanks again!

Yes, that’s my suggestion.
As for where to delete it from, I don’t think it matters, but let’s remove it from the same place you added it.

No luck. I also deleted the text of my post and retyped that thinking maybe that might do it and also added a new photo. Nothing seems to work. I guess the good news is that my new post from yesterday is OK.
So I guess the decision now is whether to leave it as is or go back and use the version that has the art on the home page but no caption once you click on that to get to the actual post. Maybe I’ll do that. I don’t like the look of the one spot without art and without the transparent type.
Thanks for your help.

I’m sorry we weren’t able to figure out what was really going on here.
If it happens with another image, let me know so we can look for a pattern.
