Why won't my blog let me upload images?

For the past three days our blog hasn’t allowed us to upload images to both new and existing posts. When we try to upload an image an error message comes up saying the following:
An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.There are two of us who contribute to the blog from different computers and both of us are having the same problem.

Have either of you tried clearing your browser cash or tried a different browser? Also this is tagged for staff attention so they will be in here soon.

There is no WordPress.com issue with image uploads that I am aware of.
It’s possible that you have a connectivity issue or a browser related issue. To address them do as follows and report back if your are not successful.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/
(a) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

Add both *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com to your list of trusted sites under the Security tab. Make sure to uncheck the box for “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.” http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#frequently-asked-questions
4. You can use this link to see if your flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not then go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ and download and install the latest version of flash.
5. Try using another browser.
6. If you are not successful let us know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/ -
What kind of image file is it? What is the filename? How much room do you have in your media library?

Thanks for your suggestions.
I deleted two photos from our ‘media library’ and was then able to upload another image. This therefore suggests the media library is full.
If I delete items from the media library does this then delete them from the blog posts? How do I clear room in my media library?Many thanks!

Ok, I’ve removed the modlook tag since it looks like we’re well on our way to solving this. Yes, I would expect those photos you delete from your media library to disappear from your blog. You may want to purchase a space upgrade.

Deleting items from the library deletes them from the post as well.
You should NEVER run out of space if you optimize images before uploading. Looks like we’re too late for that. You have some options now.
Upload images in a different blog and hotlink them to your posts, or upload images at a photosite like Flickr.com and hotlink them. Additionally, you can buy the Space Upgrade and just keep uploading them here. But you DO need to optimize them before uploading, or you will just hit this wall again.
