Why won't my computer allow me to select files to add to the media library?

  Why won’t my computer allow me to select files to add to the media library?
  I click on ‘add media’ on my post page then get navigated to the media page where I click on ‘select file’ and nothing happens. It won’t let me select any files as nothing happens when I click on it.
