Why won’t my custom header image appear?
-
I use K2-lite which allows custom headers. It worked fine with a picture I uploaded about a year ago. Yesterday I tried to upload a new image; the image appeared and I cropped it and the screen announced that my new header image should be visible at the site. It is not. The custom words are there but no image. I’ve since tried uploading a number of different images, of various sizes, and exactly the same happens. Can anyone explain this?!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We cannot help without a link to your blog, starting with http. Also, tell us what header you were trying to upload, so we can tell you if we see it or not.

Sorry I thought the link appeared automatically. http://allaboutfelix.com
Instead of the standard blue background there was a picture of a baby!

Thanks, that helps.
I see the blue header. What file type was the image? Do you have the paid CSS upgrade?
-
Just a jpeg – and it’s been working for over a year (until yesterday). I don’t have a paid upgrade, no. The picture must upload to wordpress because it appears on screen for me to crop.

Oh. You mean you HAD it, and then for some reason you re-uploaded it? There’s your problem. Rename the file something else and save it on your computer, then upload the re-named file. WordPress is easily confused by files with the same name.

Once you have the CSS upgrade, the custom header thing stops working. You have to get the URL of the header image and then put it into the appropriate place in the CSS manually.
First thing I would suggest is that you upload any images used for the blog structure (background, header, etc.) directly to wordpress. Hosting the background image at photobucket will severely slow load times.
Second, the background image file is WAY too large at 1,000k (nearly 1mb). It needs to be optimized so that it is under 100k and it would be better if it were 35-50k. It takes way too long to load, even with my 5mb connection speed.
