Why won't my featured images in Twenty Ten show up?
-
My “featured images” were imported from my previous Twenty Ten template, but I cannot get them to show up as headers for the individual pages to which they are assigned. The same header appears on all pages. Please help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You have to set the images as featured header images again after importing.

Thanks for the response timethief. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any success. I removed one of the featured images and then uploaded a new image, but it still will not show up. Any other recommendations?

Raincoaster, in case I misunderstood, the link to the original site, which has featured images for each “page” is here: http://punklit.wordpress.com/
The other link is the site to which I exported my original, and where I can’t get the featured images to link to pages, even when I delete those images, and upload them as if new. -

My suspicion is when you import content you do not import settings, hence, you have to reset any featured images. Assuming your are running an update date browser version http://browse happy.com and not an outdated IE9 version or any IE version in compatibility mode you ought to be able to reset the images. Hi again. There doesn’t seem to be any response in the other thread. Do you have any other suggestions?
-
Hi @v0yelle,
It looks like the featured images are currently being reflected properly for the following pages:
http://punklit.wordpress.com/001-noise-and-nuggets/
http://punklit.wordpress.com/002-the-roots-of-refusal/
Can you point me to a page where the featured image is not displaying correctly?
-
Hi Jeremey,
The featured images are running fine at “punklit.wordpress.com.” That was my original site. I’m having trouble at “demopunk.wordpress.com,” which is the site where I imported “punklit” in order to make some changes. Mysteriously, the “Los Angeles” page suddenly started showing the correct image, but no other pages are showing their individual images. Thoughts?
-
After looking at some of my images, I noticed that the image for the “Los Angeles” tab is 1028 X 509, whereas the images that won’t load are 800 X 562, 743 X 349, 500 X 500, etc.
Any image I had over 1000 (1600 X 524; 1440 X 900; 1013 X 768) would load properly. Do you have any suggestions on either
a) how to get the smaller images to work and
b) if i can only use larger images (which was not true over at “punklit”), how can i properly crop them? (I know how to crop images, but I often find that they won’t load if the dimensions are too small.)
Thanks for whatever help you might be able to offer. -
Also, I just found a fair use image that was 1420 X 1397 online, but when I added it to my media library it was listed as roughly 1/6 the size: 226 X 223. Can I fix this?
-
Sorry for the string…
I also tried to set the aspect ratio for smaller files at 2:1, which roughly corresponds to that of the larger files loading properly. Unfortunately, this didn’t work with the smaller files. -
Ok, I figured out a time consuming workaround. I’m editing all of my images in Preview, and setting their width at 940, and then testing out a variety of heights to see if they get all of the image in the header without looking too squished.
I would still like to know if there is a non-CSS way to change the header size in Twenty Ten. It seems that it happened accidentally over at my other site “punklit.” -
Hi!
So, the featured images for your demopunk.wordpress.com site should be 940 x 198 in order for them to work. The difference here between the demopunk site and punklit.wordpress.com is that punklit is using Twenty Eleven whereas demopunk is using Twenty Ten. The two themes have different header image sizes.
There are a couple of options here:
- You could just opt to switch to Twenty Eleven on punklit. That would give you the same header image format as demopunk
- We could accomplish this by using CSS. Something like this should work:
#branding img { height: 400px; }You could change the height to get the look you want. The main caveat is that this would require the Custom Design upgrade shown here:
It seems like switching to Twenty Eleven would be the easiest solution. Would that work?
