Hello @pstramer,
I am sorry you are experiencing this error.
I have tagged this post for staff’s attention, someone from the staff will reach you shortly.
In the meanwhile, here are a few possibilities I think might have given you the above mentioned error:
The 413 error means “Payload too large” so if you were uploading an export this could mean the file is too big. WordPress.com only supports .xml imports (not sql) with a maximum file size of 15MB. Maybe you can try splitting the large .xml to smaller files and then import it.
Simply put, please make sure your are importing a .xml file in WXR format and keep the maximum upload size in mind. You can read more about the importing process here:
I hope this points you in the right direction of help.

I don’t see any recent import attempts on the site you listed.
Is that indeed the site you’re trying to import to, and how big is the export file?

Hi josephineawex –
Please open up your own thread in the future. That way your conversation can stay in one place and we can provide more efficient support.
If the following does not help, open up your own new thread, and add the “modlook” tag. That puts the thread in to the staff queue.
I think you should first, rule out an issue with your own setup.
– restart your router
– restart your computer
– clear your browser cache: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
– see if a different browser works any differently
– let me know if you’re using the app, what version number?
