Hi grantdavenport – could you provide a link to your site running Zoren? I don’t see one on your account.
If you downloaded Zoren for a self-hosted WordPress site, you can ask for help from the developer:

I see the Goran theme on that blog. Have you been using the detailed theme description page instructions at this link https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/goran/?
-
Ah, perhaps it was just a typo and you meant Goran, as timethief pointed out?
Looks like you applied the Grid Page template to your front page, instead of the Front Page template. If you assign the Front Page template, you can get started setting up your front page widgets to make the site look more like the demo site.
As timethief mentioned, the Goran setup guide has instructions on how to use the theme’s features. If you get stuck at a particular step, just let me know and I’ll be glad to help.

Thank you so much thus far for your help …. GREATLY appreciated
One thing – can I have different page templates set within the one site ? ie : say the full width page for video and “contact us map” and then say the “grid” page set for my gallery page and then say the other style for a different page ?
The demo has home, blog, page templates across the top – can I add extra pages into there so I have the menu across the top ( like other sites have ) where it has all my pages listed like : home gallery about us gallery contact link
Cheers

Yes, you can select a different template for each page, as you like.
The demo has home, blog, page templates across the top – can I add extra pages into there so I have the menu across the top ( like other sites have ) where it has all my pages listed like : home gallery about us gallery contact link
Sure, you can create a custom menu and add whatever specific items you like to it:

Awesome – thanks for your help thus far – greatly appreciated.
One thing though – I’ve used the goran theme and I’ve got a “site” underway for m daughter but I’m having an issue as follows :
or
these two links are the “homepage” that wordpress has made on my behalf ( thanks wordpress )
however I want the one below to be my actual proper home page –
the difference being that the home pages wordpress made don’t have any text and I can’t seem to find them in my “pages” list in the editing section. It’s like wordpress made them initially for me but they have no vanished off my pages list so I can’t modify them NOR can I make my own choice of which is the home page ( being the one ending in preview=true )
I hope that makes sense.
Basiccally if someone was to click on the heading “Emilys Creatures” it tries to takes them to a page that doesn’t exist as opposed to taking them to the home page I made ending in the &preview=true
Can you suggest something to help rectify this please….
Cheers and I appreciate your help IMMENSELY !!!

And things like the different colour around the menu options when you click on the menu ( to see other pages on the site ) – can I make that background colour of the menu page the same as the rest of the site as it looks strange to have white backgrounds everywhere but then when you click on the “menu” icon, the page suddenly slaps you in the face in sky blue …. ?
I am using the edin or goran ( not sure ) but theyu’re very similar in look. So…..

Hi Kathryn
I have played around with this bloody thing for hours now and no matter what I do, I can not get my site to look like this :
https://gorandemo.wordpress.com/
That’s exactly how I want my site to look however it doesn’t matter what I modify, I just can’t get it to clone that site and that’s the EXACT template I want to work off.
Any suggestions … ?
THANKS HEAPS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry you’ve had so much trouble setting up your site running Goran. I’d be glad to help further, but it looks like you decided to switch https://emilyscreaturesbigandsmall.wordpress.com/ over to Afterlight – are you happy with Afterlight for now?
And things like the different colour around the menu options when you click on the menu ( to see other pages on the site ) – can I make that background colour of the menu page the same as the rest of the site as it looks strange to have white backgrounds everywhere but then when you click on the “menu” icon, the page suddenly slaps you in the face in sky blue …. ?
You could change the menu colour with some custom CSS. You’d need the WordPress.com Premium plan, which includes other features as well. We have a whole CSS customization forum where folks can get help with those sorts of tweaks:

I think you’ve been corresponding with me at my direct email address of kenbrowning so I apologise if we’ve duplicated my inquiry as I appreciate you probably get heaps of requests for help and I don’t want to make you any busier than you need to be.
Sorry – bit confusing………..
The Emily’s creatures site I’ve sorted I think – that’s a blog for my bug mad daughter. I had it as a Goran site and then changed it because I couldn’t achieve the result I was trying to do with the Goran site.
The only problem I have with her blog now is the page links not working properly.
I have a made a specific home page tab ( address is : https://emilyscreaturesbigandsmall.wordpress.com/home/ ) which obviously is so you can click on it from anywhere within the site and that should take you to THAT home page.
However when you click on the heading where it says “Emily’s creatures” it takes you to this particular page – https://emilyscreaturesbigandsmall.wordpress.com/
It seems to currently have 2 different home pages that aren’t meshing with each other.
How do I ensure that when someone clicks either the “home” tab or clicks on “Emily’s creatures” in the heading, they end up at the same place on the site ? ( ideally I want this to be a home page I can edit text on )
The goran site I was having the issues with is :
https://grantfromgdp.wordpress.com/
This is a site I’m helping build for a mate of mine. I’ve worked out the grid page for his gallery so to speak however I still want to really replicate the look of the live demo.
Things like :
1) the contact number up in the top right of the home page……
2) how can I get my heading in the left section there like how it says Goran in the demo….things like that I can modify ?
3) Also like how his home page has the massive upper case HOME stamped in the middle of his home page – I don’t saee that on the Goran site so not sure why his site has it …..
So basically I can only change that sort of stuff if he pays for a premium site ?
I’ve got wordpress website for my photography business and all I pay for is the annual hosting through bluehost so not sure why he would have to pay for hosting and also wordpress premium subscription as well…..
Thanks again for your help

No worries. Just to clarify, we’re not corresponding by email at all. You’re replying to email notifications, but all of these messages are being posted in the public support forums:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/why-wont-my-site-look-like-zoran-template?replies=13You might like to visit the link above to reply instead of hitting “reply” in your email program. I’ve been trimming up your messages in the forum, because they include a lot of extra content, like my previous replies. :)
I’ll answer your questions separately next.

I have a made a specific home page tab ( address is : https://emilyscreaturesbigandsmall.wordpress.com/home/ ) which obviously is so you can click on it from anywhere within the site and that should take you to THAT home page.
I’m getting a “page not found” error for this URL:
That’s because it’s set to “draft” mode and hasn’t been published yet.
How do I ensure that when someone clicks either the “home” tab or clicks on “Emily’s creatures” in the heading, they end up at the same place on the site ? ( ideally I want this to be a home page I can edit text on )
As soon as you publish the Home page – change the status from draft to published – you’ll be able to select it as your site’s static homepage. Once you do that, the Home link in the menu, as well as the link on the header, will link to the right page.
Here’s the full guide on how to set a static homepage: https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
Keep in mind that in order to follow the instructions you’ll need to have published your Home page.

https://grantfromgdp.wordpress.com/

Things like :
1) the contact number up in the top right of the home page……
The phone number (or any other info) can be added in the Customizer, in the Theme Options panel, in the Top Area Content section.
The Goran setup page shows you how to do that:
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/goran/
2) how can I get my heading in the left section there like how it says Goran in the demo….things like that I can modify ?
You’ll need to set up a static front page and assign the Front Page template to it. There are full instructions in the guide I linked to above, scroll to the “Front Page Template” section and follow the step-by-step instructions.
3) Also like how his home page has the massive upper case HOME stamped in the middle of his home page – I don’t saee that on the Goran site so not sure why his site has it …..
That’s because you haven’t yet applied the Front Page template to your page – looks like you applied the Grid template instead. Switch that the Front Page template, following the guide above.
So basically I can only change that sort of stuff if he pays for a premium site ?
I’ve got wordpress website for my photography business and all I pay for is the annual hosting through bluehost so not sure why he would have to pay for hosting and also wordpress premium subscription as well…..
Hosting a site on WordPress.com is free, as is making all the changes you mentioned above.
If you get stuck at any point, just let me know and I’ll be glad to help further.

Hey there
On another site, my own site actually, the guys at bluehost didn’t downgrade my account in time and it expired making me lose EVERYTHING I had done for my photography business…..so now I have to rebuild entire site….
Two questions :
a. Is there anyway I can find out what the theme was that I had been using before they lost everything ( as I can’t restore it either because my back up is gone … )
b. If I restart building my whole site, that’s fine however the contact 7 form won’t give me the text next to the “boxes” – ie : you can see boxes where you put your information like name, email, phone and message etc however next to ( or above ) the boxes there’s nothing saying name, email, phone etc so people will go to my contact page and not know what to put in where … ? anyone else having this issue ?
Thank you for your help
Grant

You can try Googling your URL and looking at Google’s cached copy of your site to identify the theme. Click the downward arrow next to the URL in the Google search results, then click the word “Cached” to view the cache, then view the page source of the cached page to find the theme.
b. If I restart building my whole site, that’s fine however the contact 7 form won’t give me the text next to the “boxes”
You could try asking this in the Contact Form 7 plugin forum:
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/contact-form-7Good luck!
