Why won't posts by others display in new reader update?

Since the new reader update, I can’t read anyone’s posts except my own. If I click, a nearly (but not completely) blank window is displayed. All that’s shown is the name of the post, with an arrow pointing left. If I click a second time, it returns me to the grid-list.

I’m using Safari 5.1 on Mac OS 10.6.8

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m so sorry but Safari 5.1 is outdated no longer supported because it doesn’t handle some of the JavaScript functions needed for the newer code updates.

Would it be possible for you to upgrade to a newer browser version?

Or if it’s an option for you to use a phone or tablet to access the Reader, you may want to give that a try as a possible alternative.

I truly hoped it wouldn’t be something like that. Unfortunately, the only way to upgrade my browser version, which works seamlessly with every other place I visit online, would be to change my OS. Changing my OS would disrupt central functions needed for unrelated software I must use for work. I do not own a smart phone or tablet.

So my choice is between making a living, and investing at minimum hundreds of dollars on new hardware to make this “free” site available to use (aside from publishing, which still works). That’s a pretty big ask. And it’s upsetting to contemplate.

My blog has been in operation over five years, I have close to a thousand subscribers, several thousand comments, and I cherish the relationships I’ve made in this community. I’m going to have to think about it.
