Why won't the music player widget work?
-
The music player widget isn’t working. I have a YouTube video that I would like to post onto my blog, but when I tried, it simply appeared as the URL text. It wasn’t even an open link that people could click on to go to YouTube.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you purchased a space upgrade?
If so then have you exhausted the space allocation?

To embed a youtube see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/
To provide an active link to a youtube read and act on what follows.
This is the guide for creating links in posts and pages: http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/This is the general link model:
<a href="URL HERE">Highlighted anchor text here</a>
This is the visual result – it’s not actually linked here in the forum.
Highlighted anchor text here1. Enter the relevant descriptive anchor text you want to link to first. Note that “here” is not a good choice.
2. Then use your mouse to highlight that anchor text. (If you don’t highlight the anchor text the chain icon will remain grayed out and not be useable.)
3. Next click the chain icon in the editor and proceed to create the link. -
I have not purchased a space upgrade. Also, the music player widget was working rather well, until I tried to change the video about an hour ago. I don’t think I have exhausted the space allocation, since I haven’t been doing anything with the blog in the last couple of months and it was working fine before and during those couple of months.

I am not trying to put a video into a post or page. I want the video to play on the side of the page in the primary widget area. When I click on the music player widget, a blank white screen appears.

To run audio on a free blog being free hosted by WordPress.com does require purchasing a space upgrade.

From: Adding to your Sidebar/Footer at http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/#adding-to-your-sidebarfooter
You can embed YouTube videos to your sidebar or footer by copying and pasting the shortcode into a Text Widget. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/For the shortcode read and act on what’s here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/#embedding-with-a-shortcode

This is the youtube shortcode that you copy and paste into a text widget without in any way, shape or form adding or removing anything from it:

Wow! Thank you. I just added the video by placing a Text Widget into my Primary Widget Area. Then I copied and pasted the info from the embed section of the YouTube information under the video I wanted into the Text Widget box. It works like a champ now. Thank you!

Thank you! Merci! Gracias! timethief–you are The Best! You too bakerfamilyministry!–I so appreciate you posting your question and following through with your reply about success. Otherwise I would not have figured out this new ‘change’–the key word was ’embed’ because previously I just copied form the ‘share’ box section. Took me a bit to focus on the correct term. Thank you both very much for making my day by resolving how to deal with this change in procedure.
