Why won't this blip.tv video embed?
-
When I try to embed a certain video of mine from Blip.tv, it will not appear on the page. I have successfully embedded several videos with the same player before, and another WordPress user was able to embed the very same video on his blog without issue, but despite several tries, this particular video will not work on my blog page. The blog post in question is here: http://mmogrinder.wordpress.com/2011/08/29/maple-story-episode-3/

Hi there,
Can you try going to your Dashboard > Settings > Media page and clicking on the button next to “Enable auto-embeds”? That should allow blip.tv URLs to embed directly onto your site.

I actually had that setting enabled when posting the other two by pasting the embed code into the text block.
When I mentioned it wasn’t working, another WordPress user advised me to disable the option and try to paste the embed code into the HTML block. Unfortunately this still does not work.
I clicked the button again and I’m still not getting it to work properly through any available methods.

I’ve tried every available option to me and this particular video still refuses to embed. I’ve even tried embedding it in different browsers to no avail. The code itself doesn’t even show up, as if something on the page is causing the auto-format to fail. Is there any major difference between the page at http://mmogrinder.wordpress.com and http://youcanplaythis.com/ (also a wordpress user) as the user of that page was able to upload the exact same video without issue.
For the record, this is the code I’m using that isn’t working on my page:
<iframe src=”http://blip.tv/play/h8ABgs%2BNHwA.html” width=”600″ height=”347″ frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe><embed type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” src=”http://a.blip.tv/api.swf#h8ABgs+NHwA” style=”display:none”></embed>

Hi there,
Can you try simply copying and pasting the following URL into your Editor?
http://blip.tv/chaosd1/mmo-grinder-maple-story-episode-3-5490235Regarding the embed code that you’re using, I’m afraid that isn’t compatible with WordPress as we remove iframes for security reasons:
-
Where into the editor should I paste that? Pasting it into the text block itself just creates a link, and doesn’t auto-embed, while the “add video” option doesn’t do anything after entering the URL.
-
Copying and pasting it into the Editor itself shouldn’t create a link. Can you delete the previous text/links to this video that you have in your Editor prior to pasting the URL?
It’s possible the the hyperlink you’ve created in your current post is instead linking to this new URL.
If you’re still having trouble, please let me know and I can try doing it for you, if that’s okay with you.

Wow. That actually worked! Thank you SO much for this. I think I might have been confused as to where to link this. (I pasted it into the HTML rather then the visual editor.)
While it forces me to use my default blip player, I’m perfectly fine with at least having the video on the site finally. Thank you very much!
