Why Won’t This Text Widget Work?

  I am trying to add the below as a Text Widget. Any ideas why it doesn’t work??

  Javascript and flash have brought down quite a number of services in the past including Facebook, and blogger, so there is good reason worpdress does not allow user added script and such.

  There is a lot of REALLY bad javascript and flash out there with security holes you can drive an 18-wheeler though sideways.
