Why won't WordPress accept my credit card?

    Hi there,

    I’m trying to make a payment on WordPress and my credit card is not working. I’m getting an error message saying it’s an “invalid payment”. I’ve used this credit card to buy other things on the internet in the past day or so and there’s plenty of funds available.

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    WordPress.com uses PayPal as its payment clearing house. Since you seem to be in a supported country, I will tag this for Staff assistance.

    Hi there,

    I checked your account and don’t see any failed transactions, so it looks like something is going wrong before we even try to process the transaction. Sorry about that! I can certainly investigate that for you.

    • Just to confirm, are you making the payment from your WordPress.com account with the username elizabethredman?
    • Are you trying to pay directly with a credit card or are you using the PayPal tab on the checkout page?
    • Are you adding any kind of coupon on the checkout page?
    • Also, what upgrade(s) are you trying to purchase?

    That will help me track down what’s going wrong here.
