why won't wordpress recognize the titles of my images from my computer?

Hi, I use a Mac and iPhoto. In iPhoto, I name my photos, give them a title. But when I upload (used both methods), the title just comes across as a goofy number or “olympus photo”. We have photos in iPhoto that were named by another camera (someone else’s photos that we saved on our computer, in iPhoto), and it recognized those photos’ titles/names. Any thoughts??? It’s frustrating to have to click on every photo in WordPress and give each one a name, etc. I’d much rather just do it once in iPhoto… thanks

Prior to uploading your photos, are you renaming the file itself? For example, if you titled your image travel_pic.jpg, the file should be uploaded as /travel_pic.jpg with the title “travel pic” inserted into the Title field.

If, however, the actual file names are not changed, I’m afraid the WordPress upload service will not pull that information from your photos. I hope this helps!

WordPress is getting the photos from iPhoto, and it’s in iPhoto that I am renaming the files. I take the photos from on my camera, connect to my computer, download into iPhoto, rename the photos in iPhoto, then upload to WordPress. I’m not sure where else I would rename the photos if not in iPhoto.

  • WordPress gets the image title from the file name, not the photo’s meta data.

Are the image titles represented in their file names?
