  why does wordpress not promote this site: http://www.fanpop.com/spots/wordpress.com

  is it not part of wordpress or something??

  It’s something engtech started, not something WordPress itself started. If you’re interested in it, participate and blogroll it.

  Gotta admit that most regulars here in the forums frown at other sites importing their RSS feeds, surrounding it with adverts, and promoting it as their own information.

  I’m not sure I’m following you there. The site doesn’t cover sites that aren’t nominated as far as I know, and I see much content and only two teeny ads in the sidebar; you can’t call it a blog scraper.

  Am I not seeing what you’re seeing? I think engtech is a pretty standup guy and wouldn’t do something skanky like your post implies, although I allow for the fact that things might look very different in Firefox, etc.

  Not to worry drmike engtech is a very cool cat and a stand up guy. The thing is that he has been trying to get a wordpress “community” blog thing going – you know a register, submit blog posts, vote on blog posts type of group. But this all happened during the time that you were rarely available so that’s why you didn’t twig to it.
