Why would you do this to us? You probably know what this is about before even reading it which says a lot doesn’t it?

I’m disgusted with your team and would kindly appreciate a response or some reassurance that WordPress cares. The new editor is by far the worst marketing mistake I’ve ever seen a company make to try and imitate other competitors. The beauty of WordPress was that it wasn’t a ‘drag and drop’ block-based builder. Now I have to learn a new system which is incredibly difficult to find the most basic tools – AND have to learn builders that come with website themes when I try a new one too. This is absolutely too much and I’ve been building for over a decade – not just some basic small-time designer. What is your team thinking here? I’m not the only one, so why aren’t you listening to people? If you were, there would be a way to turn this builder off completely. I need to know if there is going to be (besides a third-party plugin) a way to turn off the new editor and PERMANENTLY use the original one. Designers are taking a massive productivity hit by changing literally everything all at once. Change for most people is a slow process – especially for them to feel comfortable with it. For example, I’m a video editor and use advanced Adobe software. Can you imagine if Adobe FORCED people to another company and completely changed everything that makes people efficient at their work? How many people have actually contacted you raving about the new builder compared to those like me? Please give me a reason to stay with WordPress for my (over 100) websites. I can spend the same time learning another builder like crappy Wix or others in the same time it would take me to continue with WordPress. Why are you doing this to us? I can’t find a logical reason and would love some feedback before I give up on WordPress holistically. Bad move guys. I’m speechless.

If you don’t like the new editor, it’s very easy to switch back to the Classic Editor.

To switch to the classic editor, click on the ‘. . .’ settings icon in the upper right corner of the editing screen. Then, click on Switch to Classic Editor.

Hey Rob Whittaker, thanks for your feedback.

If your site is hosted here on WordPressdotcom the instructions that @staartmees gave will help you return to using the classic editor.

If by chance you are using the open source WordPress software on your site rather than being hosted here on WordPressdotcom, you can install the Classic Editor plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/ You’ll probably also want to post your feedback where it counts in the WordPress.org forums. https://wordpress.org/support/forum/requests-and-feedback/

Just to clarify WordPressdotcom (where we are ) and the WordPress open source software are different entities with separate documentation and support forums: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
