widening featured images
-
I changed the layout of my blog from 3 columns to 2 columns using the CSS customizations found in this thread (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/oxygen-theme-how-to-make-full-width-posts?replies=17), but now I can’t figure out how to widen the featured images for each post. I would like for the images to extend to the gray box where the category is (if that makes sense) but it is still defaulted to the width it was at in the 3-column layout. What is the CSS customization for this—or is it possible? Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Since we volunteers can’t see your site (set to private) all we can do is work off the demo site, and in this case that is a little difficult. Could you temporarily make the site public so that we can take a look at it to see what we can do for you?

Ok, let me take a look and see what I can do. I can easily make them narrower, but I’m not sure about wider – at least now without severely compromising image quality.

You will see though that the image quality suffers. This is because the image inserted is still the smaller size, so the browser is actually enlarging the image, and browsers don’t do a good job of that.
