  I choose to hide my widgets on my about page so that I can use the whole area for more content and the picture would be bigger. However after hiding the widgets my content still doesn’t fill the page area?

  If you go to the page editor at https://marcumphotography.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=15&action=edit you’ll see a Template dropdown menu on your right hand side, here you can switch the page template to ‘Full Width’.
