widget added, but categories disappear

  • Unknown's avatar

when I add a widget that shows Pages of my blog in the sidebar, all other elements that are originally found in the theme suddenly disappear! these elements are like Search, Categories and Archives..
Isn’t there a way to add a Pages widget to the sidebar of my blog below the original elements without replacing them?
    Thanks..

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Rather than posting a link I’ll give your a quick explanation. Every theme has a default sidebar display for preview purposes only. From the front of the blog it looks like actual widgets are in place when they aren’t. So when we go into Appearance > Widgets and move a single widget we over-ride the “default display”.

This can easily be remedied. Go back to > Appearance > Widgets and select ALL widgets you want and place them where you want them to appear in the sidebar. One at a time click them to open them and then set them up and click “Save” and Close”

    oh, thank you..
That was easy, I feel now my question is so stupid :D
I didn’t notice that widgets include both the original elements of the theme as well as the accessory elements that I want to add, now everything is clear to me :)

No problem. Many new bloggers are confused by the default display. Setting that aside please be aware that wordpress.com blogs cannot be equipped for ecommerce and cannot be used to drive traffic to third party sites. Pleas carefully read these entries:

I have read all support topics related to this issue, thank you for making this point clear..
But how can I upgrade my blog to be hosted in wp.org while I’m in the beginning of e-marketing journey? I never made a successful affiliate deal till now so I still don’t have enough money to do so.
so, can i settle this matter with wp administration? I do not want my blog to be suspended plz..
I was using blogspot for months and did never faced such a problem, the wp blogging world is much more better than blogspot so I want to continue using your system, even till I can earn enough money out of my blog then upgrade it..

one of well-known facts that many blogs are used in e-marketing nowadays, so kindly please try to release some of these restrictions even if it is for some time till I prepare a blog with completely useful contents…

Thank you again, but I am so worried now, I can’t change my activity that I struggled and involved into for 2 weeks, but in the same type I respect your rules and do not want to violate it anyway.

This isn’t a matter of “upgrading”. There are no ecommerce upgrades at wordpress.COM and wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG are completely separate. You can hire a web host and get a free wordpress.ORG software install. See here for the differences between the two and mor information > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    Moving to WordPress.org see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
