  I have two “Buy this at Amazon” buttons in my sidebar. Is it possible to have them standing alone, rather than being inside the standard widget box?

  The way your theme Contempt is coded to operate is the way it is behaving. All data in text widgets is displayed in boxes as this is the way the template, which we cannot edit, is coded to display them. The only way to change this is to switch to a theme that does not have this “box” treatment for widgets. .
