  Have you tried removing it via the WP Admin Dashboard?
  Go to the Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets, select it from the right column and delete it.

  To access the WP Admin dashboard add /wp-admin to the end of your site’s URL (e.g. http://www.example.com/wp-admin).

  I don’t know if the OP is having this problem, but right now my widgets are not selectable, the drop-downs aren’t working, there’s no way to reorder or delete them.

  I would assume that WordPress itself is in charge of the admin — it’s not the site’s template that’s at issue. I tried last night, I rebooted my computer, I tried again this morning. I had already ADDED a widget to the sidebar recently, so it wasn’t a problem a few days ago. But I can’t select, move, delete, etc. ANY of the widgets on the site now.

  Here’s a video screencast demonstrating the issue I’m having where I can’t select, add, delete or edit widgets in the sidebar. Mac, Safari, everything is updated, rebooted, etc.

  Yes I tried. I just got so tired of it I started over. Time consuming but now no problems
