widget configuration trouble
-
something has gone horribly wrong in my blog forces8.wordpress.com
on the widgets configuration screen, only the top frame (sidebar arrangement) appears.
the lower frames (categories widgets, text widgets, RSS Feed widgets), the need help message, etc are not shown. CPU usage stays at 100% for minutes. If I wait long enough, I can move widgets around. Saving changes takes several minutes. Again, nothing but the top frame appears on the screen.
I have another blog also on wordpress.com that behaves normally, so this doesn’t look like a browser or cache problem (i nuked cookies and cache to no avail).
Any suggestion ?
I suspect that some critical file got corrupted. Is it possible to reset the ailing blog to its original state, that is, re-creating it as if from scratch ? This might solve the problem. If it does, that would be a nice option to have.
Any help warmly welcome. TIA.

When you can get back in there, you will probably want to strip out the formatting on the most recent post. It could be something relating to that.
The blog comes up normally for me. You may have to contact staff and get them to tweak something.

Indeed the blog itself looks fine. It is the process of editing sidebar widgets that is fubared. For instance I cannot ask for an additional text or categories widget. And just opening the presentation / widgets screen in the dashboard takes minutes.

Whenever things like this happen, the first thing to try is logging out, clearing your browser cache and cookies, closing your browser and then reopening it and trying again. That can take magically fix a lot of problems. Also, if you have another browser installed on your system, try with that.

for the record I have been using
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11 under windows XP. Tried with unknown firefox on a mac. IE 6 on XP doesn’t help either. As stated above however this does not seem to be a browser issue since the very same borwsers have no problems at all with other blogs of mine.
TIA

for those who gave the blog a look, I have tried to memove everything from the left and bottom sidebars. I also cleaned each and every text and RSS widgets. This did not help. Switching theme does not help either (although I did not try them all).
I’m getting desperate.
Please please please pretty please, someone ?

I’m thinking you probably need staff to take a look at it; we’ve done all we can and you’ve done all you can. Strange that switching themes didn’t help at all. Contact support when they reopen in about four hours, and don’t leave it; they close for the weekend!

Thank you all for your time and advice. I contacted support, and will let you know what emerges.
