Widget font too small and changed that way without my knowing
-
Pleawse help me enlarge the font in my widgets. I don’t know how they got so small, it wasn’t my doing as I don’t know anything about fonts etc. the instuctions with codes etc. I don’t understand I find it very complicated. I am not a techie just an ordinary person and someone else set the website up then left me in limbo. Is there not an easier way to enlarge, make bold, underline etc. for dummies like me. Please advise

You cannot change the size of fonts in widgets without purchasing an annually renewable custom design upgrade http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/ and doing the required CSS editing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/editing-css/

Did you past the contents into the text widget from some sort of ordered list?
Maybe the formatting carried over. if that is the case – look at the text in the widget and take out formatting commands or start over by pasting the text you are moving into some sort of plain text editor to take out the formatting commands – (or use the paste text option in a draft Post )

I haven’t done anything that I know of to change it. The person who set it up originally is gone and all I did was edit the old wording replacing with new wording then one time out to the blue all the widgets reverted to this tiny font and I don’t know anything about codes etc. to get it back to normal size.
-
there is something that is setting the font to 8 pt – but I don’t know enough about your theme to know why – or to suggest a fix other than my observations above to take a look at the Widgets and the text and such in them
I flagged this for the staff to help

Thankyou so much! I will wait to see what they say. I find this code thing very confusing and wonder why it is in code rather than straightforward like typing in the main area editing box. I am at my wits end trying to manage this blog and am looking at Weebly it seems much simpler to manage. But I will wait and see if I can follow help from staff. Thanks

I will wait to see what they say. …
Forget that. Please see here http://theme.wordpress.com/retired/vigilance/ for this for this now retired theme. Then go to the live demo site and note the font size in the widgets there. http://vigilancedemo.wordpress.com/
Do note that retired themes do not support all WordPress.com features. Though you can continue to use one I suggest you simply change to another theme. You can quickly and easily change themes to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/
Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes and browse themes until you find one you like and click “activate” or type in the name of the theme you want to use and
click the “activate” link when it appears. After you change your theme all you need to do is go here Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets and re-install them where you want them to appear. The widget contents and settings will be the same as they were prior to changing themes.

Isn’t there anything simplier ;than changing the theme? I am really out of my league here. I like the theme I have just want to make the widget in larger font so public can read it.

As I stated above you cannot change the size of fonts in widgets without purchasing an annually renewable custom design upgrade http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/ and doing the required CSS editing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/editing-css/ to chnage the font size in widgets. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-fonts/
You have one option that does not require purchasing an annually renewable custom design upgrade and CSS editing and that is to switch themes.
-
In reference to text widget content only you can, of course, simply code the size of font size you wish into the widgets.
-
If I were to purchase the custom design is it as difficult (complicated) to use as the codes etc.?
-
You have ONLY text widgets in your sidebar. If all you want to chnage is the font size in the text widgets, which BTW I can read with ease despite the fact I am visually challenged, then don’t buy the upgrade. Code the size of font size you wish into those text widgets.
http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/11/formatting-text-pt-5/P.S. Are you aware that everyone one the internet can increase or decrease the font size on any site they visit easily and quickly?

Thanks for your guidance I appreciate it. I will go to the page instructions for coding font size and see if I can figure it out. I just figured out layering in photoshop elements so maybe I can get this. Right now my mind is boggled. I still don’t understand why WordPress is so complicated. Been looking at Weebly, much simpler but I cant’ figure out how to get my archives over there as the person who set this site up is long gone with my archive file. Thanks again.
