Widget on portfolio's pages

    Hey guys,

I’m having a little issue so far on the port theme. I asked the theme guys, but they can’t do nothing so far as it looks like a big job if doing on the theme itself.

That’s why I’m asking you to know if we could built up a CSS code who would do the following :
my question/request is, could you guys built a CSS code allowing me to show my sidebar’s widgets on the portfolio’s page project ?
The reason is that I’m using the “portfolio” section as a blog section, cause the portfolio sort and display is so great! The only issue I have so far doing this, is loosing the widgets on the sidebar…

Just compare these two page look, and there’s no doupt we need the widget on the sidebar :

    Hi Samuel,

It looks like the theme doesn’t include an option to have the sidebar show on portfolio pages (I’m basing this on the details on the Port theme page and what shows up in the customizer when I preview the theme).

CSS can only be used to style content that exists on the page already (except for adding images and small amounts of static text in very limited ways) so it would not be possible to include a sidebar with CSS.

There’s also no access to the theme PHP files here with on WordPress.com so you can’t tinker with the theme set up directly.

    Dear,

Thanks a lot for that explanantion. So the only way would be to host the site as a wordpress.org and modify the php ?

    Best,
    Samuel

It looks like that would be the way to achieve what you want, but even then it might be quite a lot of work to figure out the changes need to the portfolio PHP template to pull in the sidebar, I’m only a PHP beginner so I couldn’t say.

You’d also need to be aware of the other differences between the two types of WordPress.

Yeah… I know these, that’s why I would be happy if the Port theme developper could do this improvement.

    Thanks for these details.
