Widget placement on esquire

  On Esquire, is there any way to show some of the widgets on the side instead of in the footer? (If not, is there a place to put some static text at the top to point viewers in the footer direction for widgets?

  No, Esquire doen’t support sidebar widgets.

  You have created and activated a custom top menu, right? What you can do is add a menu item that will jump to the footer. Go to Appearance > Menus and add a custom link to your menu, typing whatever you like in the Label field and typing this in the URL field:
