Widget ‘read more’ issues
-
I’ve followed your tutorial on adding the link within my post and added ‘continue reading’ to the text after ‘more.’ Still doesn’t show up on my home page under the post.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
You may have created the More tag incorrectly. The easiest way to insert a More tag is to go to the line in a post editor where you want the text to be truncated in the displayed portion of a post on the blog page a click the Insert Read More tag icon in the editor toolbar. Then save the change. How to do this is described in the “Add the “Read More” tag somewhere in the post” section of the More tag support page.
-
Unfortunately, that is exactly what I did to insert the Read More. It shows the line separation in my post draft but does not appear when published.
-
Sorry about that. It also fails for me. I’ve just now tried the More tag in a post on a test site with the MistyLook theme applied. Doesn’t work. That MistyLook has been retired for a few years might be a factor. I’ll tag the topic for staff attention. Staff will respond here.

Hi mortyman and musicdoc1,
Interestingly, I have been able to add custom text to the More Tag on my test site when MistyLook is activated:

Would you be able to send a link to the post where the tag isn’t working?
I’m not sure what the difference is but I can certainly take a look :)

My test site is: http://www.screendoormemories.com
I have the More Tag in the 2019 Quilting Goals blog post. I’m not sure how I can allow you to see my dashboard to see the dotted line going thru the text in the post, indicating that I inserted the More Tag within the post, but it’s there :)
It just doesn’t show up on the blog itself. Also, I have it on the Genesis Featured Posts Widget for my Home Featured area and the Read More shows that it should show up.
Thanks for any suggestions!

@gemmacevans and mortyman,
Hi. Sorry, I was mistaken, the More tag is working correctly on my test site. I think maybe I looked at the single post rather than the blog page yesterday.
-
No worries, @musicdoc1.
@mortyman, I can see the more tag on the site listed, for what it’s worth. I’ll go ahead and mark this as resolved, but if you need further help, I’d recommend reaching out for support with your theme:
