Widget to enable blog posts in a slider across page header

I am finding that WordPress themes that work for my needs seem to allow random images (previously uploaded) to appear in the header image across Home page and Blog paste OR selected Blog posts. I want to have my pre-uploaded images on the Home page but my selected Blogs sliding across the top of the Blog page. All the themes I’m exploring are saying its one or the other for both. So I’m now trying to find a widget to override the theme on one or other of these pages. My question above is in the hope I can find a widget to override the previously uploaded images on the Blog page while allowing these to remain on the Home page.

This not a widget issue. It is a theme dependent issue. At wordpress.com we select a theme designed to have a post slider and know that unless the theme is designed to have one we cannot add one.

Okay – so what I’m trying to do is have a home page with an image of my choice that works for my website and currently I have a few images which feature at random which is great but it seems if I set this for the Home page I have to have it for the Blog page as well. I can’t find a theme that allows me to have a post slider header on the blog page and images as I have at the moment on the home page. Why can’t these be different? I don’t understand why these always have to be the same and was looking for a way of overriding one or the other.

What you describe is not available. The random image bit is not going to fly. Images in post sliders are featured images of specific dimensions required by the theme found in featured posts.
