Widget to show latest blog post from another blog
-
I started adding a daily post to my blog and have found these “postlettes” are taking over my standard content. I’d like to offload these daily postlettes to another blog I’ve created but have them reflected in my main blog through some sort of sidebar widget.
I am using a Flickr widget that does just what I want in my blog: it reflects my latest uploads in the sidebar. But I don’t know of a widget that would do this for blog entries/posts.
Can anyone suggest something?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I believe the RSS Widget would be your best choice.

I’ll look into this but my previous experience with RSS is that I get a mail ping when something of interest is posted. As I’ll be the one posting to the secondary site, I won’t need a reminder something is there … that I’d then need to manually link to.
But perhaps I haven’t looked into the RSS widget enough. I’m a bit embarrassed now that I think about it …
Thanks for the suggestion.

The RSS Widget referred to by @justjennifer will automatically update every-time you make a new Post on the blog that is being displayed by the RSS Widget, All automatic once it is set up. The Widget will show the Post title and they visitors can click on the title shown in the Widget if they want to read your other Post.

Can I get the widget to show more than the title? I see the checkbox stating “Display item content” and I have that selected, but I’m still just seeing the title.
Yesterday when I first set it up, I thought I was able to see a couple lines of text … which is all I really want. Today I’m just seeing the article title.
I’ve toggled the “Display item content” a few times to no apparent change …

@joeabbott
Click this link and open it in a new window http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/rss-widget/ In another window go to > Appearance > Widgets locate the RSS widget and click the top right hand corner to open it. Inside the widget you will see:
How many items would you like to display? ___
Display item content?
Display item author if available?
Display item date?
As the illustrated images in that support document show we can choose how many entries to display up to a total of 20. Make your selections and then click “Save” and “Close” -
Sorry for belaboring the point but I think I may have found a bug. At least in my post!
If you look here:
http://catcartoon.wordpress.com/You will see that I’ve expanded the RSS Widget to show three (3) items. Great, it does!
But you will also see that the first item in the list (titled “April 5, 2011”) shows no content!
The other two items (titled “Alpha Hen” and “April 4, 2011”) do show their content!By looking at the original posts on my main page
http://joeabbott.wordpress.com
I can’t see anything I’d done differently between the April 4 and April 5 posts!Any help?

If you believe you have discovered a “bug” please go to Staff because Volunteers do not have access to blogs but they, of course, do. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

OK … I’m going to consider this a problem on my side.
I’m getting all entries to show content except for the April 5 entry. While I used the same tools and formatting for each of these, something is different with that item and I’m not able to display the content.
Still, the majority of them are working. Time to start moving to the new site.
Thanks, all, for your help!

You’re welcome but if you do think there’s a bug I still think you ought to report it to Staff.
