Widget Visibility on my theme?
-
I LOVE the widget Visibility feature! Want this easy way to do it on .org too, maybe jetpack.
However, I do not see the feature of any of my .com blogs, admittedly using rather old themes, Twenty Ten, Coraline, Misty Look, Morning After…. But I thought I read it was available for all themes now.
I have seen it on other blogs just this past week working with a little wordpress group.
Is it really supposed to be on all .com themes?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have widget visibility settings on some widgets on my private WordPress.com blog for testing but not on my two public WordPress.com blogs.

I don’t know if this is theme related or not so I’m glad you posted this thread. I tagged it for a Staff response. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. -
Thank you. I think it is a nice feature and was pleasantly surprised to see it on some of the blogs in our little wordpress study group.

The way widgets generally work isn’t theme dependent, and the Visibility options are no exception. What do you mean by “I do not see the feature o[n] any of my .com blogs”? What exactly did you try?

I took a look and everything is working properly on your blog. Like ‘justpi’ said: “What do you mean by “I do not see the feature on any of my .com blogs”? What exactly did you try?”

Ah, I figured out the issue. I use the accessibility mode when on my ipad and the Widget Visibility option does NOT show in accessibility mode. When I disable accessibility mode, it does show.
I think it needs to show in accessibility mode. I can send a screen shot to anyone needing one. Thanks for the help everyone.

Good catch. I’ve just reported this to our developers. I’ll let you know once it’s fixed.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

I knew there had to be some oddity when all my blogs were affected and yet everyone else had the feature. I have gotten so used to having the accessibility on that it took you and Justpi to make me go back through my troubleshooting. This forum is super!

I don’t use an iPad so that’s not my issue. The widgets on my public blogs do not have visibility settings. Example Categories widget. On both of my public blogs there is no visibility setting in the widget. On my private test blogs there is a visibility setting.

Timethief, might you have toggled to the accessibility mode on your blogs? I had done so because I prefer placing my widgets by using the list and the numbers rather than dragging them into place? I did it for ease in my iPad, but don’t toggle off when in my notebook because I am now used to that mode.

@timethief I took a look on your blog and everything is working fine. Try Screen options > Disable Accessibility mode.
