Widget visibility setting not working
-
I just noticed that you converted the Widget editing screen to the new block format. Now, when I go to the visibility setting of a widget, there is a red X covering the show or hide option. It is literally on top of it. And changing the setting makes no change to the blog display. Never had this problem with the old widget screen.
What is going on with this? How do I fix it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I’m going to flag this thread for Staff attention. Meantime, could you please let us know which browser you’re using and which OS. https://www.whatsmybrowser.org/ and you can simply paste the resulting link that’s generated in the Share with your support team
Also, it looks like you might have an upgraded plan on your site? Just for the future, if that is the case, you are also eligible for direct support when you post to the “Contact Support” link.

Hello,
Thank you for flagging it.
My browser Chrome, version: 92.0.4515.162
My computer is a Chromebook.
And yes, I upgraded my plan from the free version to the Personal plan this past April. I’m aware of the email support, but thought I would try here first, in case there was a quick solution.
Thank you

Hi! It looks like the alignment issue might be related to this bug, which has a fix coming soon:
https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/34076Re: the visibility options not working, though, could you let us know which widget is giving you trouble, and what its visibility setting should be? We’ll try on our side.

There is a red x on top of every widget’s show/hide visibility setting. After you mentioned the alignment issues, I realized that the red x is a delete option.
The visibility settings are working. I was confused by the edit screen, which does not show the changes, even though the changes appear in view mode.
So, there is definitely an alignment issue with the X button, but the actual setting changes appear to be working.

Got it. Thanks! The alignment issue is ready to ship with the next updates, so I won’t worry about noting your case there; just know it should be fixed soon.
Cheers!

I’m coming back to this because although the github issue that @supernovia mentioned has been merged, the red X to close the Visibility setting still shows on top of the Hide/Show setting in widget Visibility in the Customizer. Here’s a screenshot for better clarity.

If, however, I navigate to the Widgets dashboard in WP Admin at /wp-admin/widgets.php it displays like this:

Is there a seperate github issue where this is mentioned? It would be helpful to move that red X a bit in the Customizer. TIA

And according to that github discussion, the issue of the red x displaying on top of the visibility settings has been resolved. There was a comment there that I heartily agree with
Would be nice if legacy and new block visibility settings look the same.
Cheers!
