  can’t get widgets on to sidebar

  Switch themes if you want a free one with a sidebar look at these http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/two-columns/?sort=free

  Themes are just “skins”. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.

  Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click “activate” or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.

  After you change your theme all you need to do is go here Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets and re-install them where you want them to appear. The widget contents and settings will be the same as they were prior to changing themes.

  I am having the same problem, starting just today. All of my widgets that are assigned to the Secondary Widget Area, which is supposed to be the sidebar, are in the footer section.

  The site linked to your username here is .blogspot.com blog and we don`t provide support for them Blogger does.

  Also know that unless you are using the Sidekick theme like zavada1 then you have posted off topic here in this thread.

  So if you and only if are referring to a .wordpress.com blog then link your username to it and use this link to start your own thread https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1

  Thank you, timethief, for the heads-up! I never noticed that my URL was still for the old blog; I changed that now. But I have followed your suggestion and started my own thread…
