Hi there,
Thanks for replying. I did look at the page but couldn’t find anything. I was able to remove them from front page but can’t locate how to remove them from posts page.
Thanks,

Jane,
Your theme has six different widget areas:
- Main Sidebar widget area which appears on the right on pages using the default template, including blog pages.
- Three optional footer widget areas displayed at the bottom of the page.
- Two optional widget areas on the front page template.
Take a look at the ‘Main Sidebar widget area’. Those widgets should be there.

Hi there, I just looked at the Main Sidebar widget area and there are no widgets there. There are none under the other 5 widget areas either. All 6 are blank. Widgets are not appearing on the front static page, only under the menu pages.
Thanks,
Jane -
Jane,
Try and add a widget to the Main Sidebar widget area. If there are no widgets it seems that your theme adds those three by default.
Also, I noticed that you are using categories and creating posts with no titles for your main pages.
For example, https://thomastownmusictuition.wordpress.com/category/menu1/instruments/
This looks to be a post with no title that is in category ‘menu1’ and sub-category ‘instruments’.
Instead you can create pages, and then assign the pages to your menu.
If you don’t want to use the sidebar with widgets, you can use a full-width page.
Let me know if that helps.

Hi there,
Thanks again for all that. Using the full width pages definitely works better. I have changed that under the Location Subcategory. Is it possible to remove this ‘Nothing Found. It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.’ When I click on location this comes up if I don’t click on the drop down page? If you get me?
Cheers!

@ thomastownmusic,
Hi. The top level menu item labeled “Location” links to a category page: https://thomastownmusictuition.wordpress.com/category/location/. The reason why you get the “Nothing Found” error is that there are no published posts assigned the “Location” category. The subcategory item also titled “Location” is a static page. Perhaps the easiest way to remedy this issue would be to delete the category menu item “Location,” and replace it with the static page item “Location.” Let me know if that properly addresses and resolves that issue. If you intend to list multiple locations in a drop-down menu then a different approach will be necessary.

@ thomastownmusic,
I’d like to get rid of the widgets on my posts page like ‘search’ ‘archives’ and ‘meta’.
As rwaynick suggested above, you can remove default widgets by adding an empty widget to a sidebar, a text widget with nothing in it, for example.

Thanks so much! That’s exactly what I wanted! The full width page also has no widgets which is great!
Is it possible to get rid of the ‘leave a comment’ boxes under each page?
Thanks,

Jane,
Is it possible to get rid of the ‘leave a comment’ boxes under each page?
You can enable/disable comments on a post you’ve already published by going into your post’s advanced settings.

Also,
You can enable/disable comments on future posts and pages by going into your Discussion settings.

Thanks for that, but can I actually remove the comments box. I understand people can’t post comments but can I remove the ‘leave a reply’ box etc.
Cheers,

Hey,
I've disable all comments and the leave a reply box is still there?
I unchecked the box in discussion under settings that says enable comments.
Should I try something else?Thanks,
Jane -
Hi Jane!
If you are wanting to remove the comments box from a plain old page (not a post), go to the pages section and select the “quick edit” option. In the right column right under the Template option there should be a little checkbox for allow comments. Uncheck that.
Let us know if that doesn’t work for you.
Kind regards,

Hey Jason,
Thanks so much for that!! It’s finally gone!! I have one last question if you don’t mind.
Is there any way to remove the box from the homepage of Motif theme? It currently says ‘Music Tuition for Adults and Children using a blend of the Suzuki and Classical Method’, on my homepage. I’d prefer to have no box there at all. Thanks again,
Jane -
Jane,
Your welcome! If you have a premium account you can remove pretty much anything you want with custom CSS. Is this the site you are referring to:
I’m not seeing the line you refer to, but if you can let me know exactly what you’d like to remove, I can give you the CSS code to add.
Kind regards,
Jason -
Hi Jason,
It’s a white box on the home page that says ‘Thomastown Music Tuition.’
I don’t have the premium theme so does that mean I can’t delete it?Thanks!
Jane -
Jane,
I see it!
I just went into the motif theme and tried to alter the look of the front page. What you want to try working with is the different page Templates. When you click on your home page under the pages section and then select “edit”, there will be a drop down for the template on the right side under “Page Attributes”. It looks like this theme has four different options. I would try working with those to see any of them remove that box or look better for what you want to do. It looks like a few of them might remove the box but you’ll have to decide if the way they arrange the page is better or worse.
Also, is that box just correlating with the site title? You may want to try leaving the title blank in appearance and see what that does.
You may have tried that already, but I think that’s all I’ve got outside of altering the CSS.
Kind regards,
Jason -
Hey Jason,
Thanks for all of that help. I really appreciate it.
I’ll have a go at what you suggested and see what happensTake care,
Jane
