Widgets

Hi, I have a huge problem with our Extended Footer widget, as every time I make a change to one of the text blocks it adapts the change to all the others! What can I do to either a) restore the old website, without a backup (seems impossible) or b) change the text blog without the other text-blocks being changed.
Thanks so much for your help!

Hi –
I’m happy to take a look. Please let me know which widget is specifically causing the issue. It’d be great if you can include before and after screen shots as well. Those can get added directly to the media library on the site and I’ll be able to have a look.
Also let me know which browser and version number you are working in so I can try to replicate the reported behavior.

The site linked: https://hiltl.wordpress.com/ is using a very old theme which might be the issue. Is that the site you are inquiring about?

Hi Liz!
Thank you so much, but actually it was another site. Luckily our website-administrator could find an old backup version so the website’s back on track.
But I’d still be curious to know, why exactly the widgets seem to simultaneously adapt, is it a settings problem?Thank you anyway and best regards.

What site are you working on, please? It’s not possible to manually backup and restore a WordPress.com site in the way you’re describing here, so it sounds like you’re working with the open source version of WordPress rather than a WordPress.com site. We also don’t have anything called an “Extended Footer Widget” on WordPress.com, so I’m guessing that’s a plugin you’re using, in which case I’d recommend contacting support for that plugin directly.
