  I am trying to remove the blogroll and meta widgets from the right sidebar and they will not go away. Any suggestions?

  I saw this suggestion on another forum: If you are having difficulty removing a widget:
  dashboard—>appearance—>widgets
  on the upper right of your screen select “screen options” then “enable accessibility mode”
  choose the widget you want to remove, and a screen will pop up that will allow you to check if you want to put it into “inactive widgets” or to delete. If you put it into “inactive widgets” remember to save.

  Problem is, both of the widgets I am trying to remove are showing as inactive. So why are they still showing up on my blog?
