Oh no! That must be frustrating. Will you please ahsre which browser and version of it you are using so we can track down the cause?
Will you also describe what happens when you go here > Appearance > Widgets and try to install widgets?
-
1) what browser and version are you using?
2) what happens when you try to add widgets?
3) I see a lot of widgets on your site. Unfortunately, they are all down below your posts because there are HTML errors on your blog. This is either bad code introduced through copy/paste OR it’s simply that you’ve put stuff in the content column that is too wide. There is a way to fix it and prevent it from happening again, though.
4) to prevent it happening in future, go to Dashboard->Settings->Writing and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML and Save Changes.
5) to fix your old posts that have the error, go to Dashboard->Posts and select all the posts, set them to Draft, and then set them to Public again. That forces the change made in 4 to take effect on those posts. Don’t forget to do it to all your posts. As you scroll down your main page you can see the earlier posts are the most messed up.

Sidebars disappear when bloggers copy and paste from elswehere without using icon 5 or 6 in Row 2 of the Visual editor, or when content is imported or when incorrect HTML is in posts or pages or a text widget.
For copying and pasting text from elsewhere without using either icon 5 or icon 6 in Row 2 of the visual editor, please see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text and here http://en.support.wordpress.com/microsoft-word/#using-word-cleanly
Typically this sidebar this falling sidebar issue is caused by an open HTML tag in one of your posts. See here to fix it > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2012/05/19/sidebar-at-the-bottom-and-related-issues/

Your widgets haven’t disappeared, they’ve to dropped below the posts because of bad HTML in a post. To fix things you need timethief’s last link.

Yes rain – sorry, didn’t notice your initial reply!
@dhogeboom: To fix things you need timethief’s last link or raincoaster’s 4 and 5 above. -

THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYBODY!! When I went to bed last night I began thinking about the size of the pictures and thought, perhaps if I reduce their size then there would be room for a sidebar — now when I got up this morning I reduced them to 80%, did a few changes since I had also added more widgets than I wanted and voila! I have a sidebar with the widgets I want. I am so grateful for your help and patience.
