Widgets and 'Columnist' theme

Get the widgets to appear. I can’t even log on. Luckily I have more than one wordpress blog and was able to access through another. The widgets transferred from the previous theme, but the columns themselves stay blank where the widgets should appear.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, what is the site URL you need help with that is using the Columnist theme? None of the sites linked here do so:
    voynichretro.wordpress.com/ is using Chateau
    voynichimagery.wordpress.com/ is using Revelar

Here’s information in general about using the Columnist theme: https://wordpress.com/themes/the-columnist/ where it says this about widgets:

    Widget Areas

Four widget areas are provided enabling you to add your own custom content directly below the content area in single posts and pages. Widgets will not appear in any template where multiple posts are displayed.

I tried to use it on the ‘voynichimagery’ site, but when I found it wouldn’t even display the log-on widget, and no-one could use the search either, I switched back to Revelar. Pity.

I have no idea what this means in practical terms:
Four widget areas are provided enabling you to add your own custom content directly below the content area in single posts and pages. Widgets will not appear in any template where multiple posts are displayed.

what does it means that widgets.. [appear] directly below the content area in single posts and pages. ?!!

I want the widgets to appear in a side-bar, and that’s what is offered when you try to customise. The side-bar appears ok, but no widgets.

I’ve done everything I can think of, and the widgets displayed fine when I re-loaded Revelar. I just like ‘Columnist’ a lot. Pity I can’t use it.

Single post view is what you see when viewing an individual post, such as https://thecolumnistdemo.wordpress.com/2012/02/13/stet-scripta-epicuri-in-est/ and the widgets will appear at the bottom of the page. The same goes for Pages such as https://thecolumnistdemo.wordpress.com/readability/

Then by the description in the Theme Showcase page for the Columnist, this is not the theme you are looking for.

To find themes that display a sidebar on the homepage, you can use the feature filter in the Theme Showcase, for example https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/two-columns/ and then look at the theme’s demo site.
