Widgets behave differently with Yoko theme
-
I am using the Yoko theme. Recent Posts widget shows bullets but Top Posts & Pages widget doesn’t. Didn’t face this problem with any other theme yet.
How can I make both the widgets behave similarly? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
In addition the search widget searches the same page for any keyword. So it works correctly only on the home page.
Can anyone actually look into these problems with the Yoko theme?
-
Thanks so much, in advance, for patiently waiting until we answer all threads other bloggers posted previous to this one.
-
While that’s a clever answer, if I have the same number of useful responses as I got in a previous question here:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/local-time-incorrect-in-stats-page?replies=3
it won’t help at all. -
It’s not “a clever answer” it’s my reality. I am working through threads as I described above.

The default timezone is UTC time. You can reset your timezone here > Settings > General Select the closest city to you in the same timezone in the drop-down menu you see there and then click “save changes”.
-
I have tested this and the answer is that there are no bullet points designed to display in any of the 3 options we can choose to use in the Top Posts and Pages widget in the Yoko theme.
-
My timezone settings:
UTC time is 2013-11-24 20:30:23, Local time is 2013-11-25 2:00:23
which is correct.
But in the stats page:
25 Nov, 2013, 1:31The stats page is half an hr behind.

Can the maintainer modify the Yoko theme to show the bullet points (or remove them from Recent Posts) for some coherence?
And what about the Search Widget? IMHO that needs a fix.
-
Frankly I wouldn’t worry about that as our stats are not real time stats and do take hours to update. If you think Staff ought to examine your blog stats and settings then you can type modlook into the sidebar of this thread and wait patiently for them to respond.

Provided you purchase a custom design upgrade you may be able to do that. See here for details on purchasing the annually renewable custom and CSS editing:

I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Because of the great free service you provide I can live with that half an hour delay (which technically is incorrect though).
-
Not to worry, as Staff can address both the time issue and the search widget issue when they work their way forward through threads of those who posted first to this one.

The code changes are not at issue. They can be obtained form Staff and/or from Volunteers who help bloggers who have purchase custom design upgrades with their CSS editing.
You seem to think is is some kind of “flaw” and I don’t agree with you.
I have used the Yoko theme. I am a minimalist blogger who wants clean quick loading responsive width themes set to infinite scroll.I know what to do at my end to make sure that the sidebars are not full of useless tat that slows page loading time down. I decided against posting any more that the bare minimum number of links in my sidebars because the theme is a responsive width themes and that means the sidebars display below the posts when viewed on mobiles.
P.S. It’s not in your best interest to keep posting to this thread as you are bumping the timestamp forward and that means it will take longer to get Staff help. I’ll stop posting to this thread.

Hi there,
This widget style is part of the original design of the Yoko theme. As timethief mentioned, you’re welcome to customize any theme’s design with the Custom Design upgrade.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
-
I understand.
How about the search widget issue? It doesn’t work anywhere else other than the home page because it searches the same page. I believe that’s not a part of the original design. Is that going to be fixed? -
Sorry, I missed that question from your earlier posts! I just checked the search widget on your site, and it worked properly for me. For example, I searched for the word “chaos” and it correctly brought up your About page in the search results.
Can you give more details about the problem you’re having with it?

When I search “hello” from my homepage, I see some results. The URL is:
http://oldpapyrus.wordpress.com/?s=helloWhen I search for “hello” from a post, I see no results and the resulting URL is similar to:
http://oldpapyrus.wordpress.com/2013/11/24/rotate-video-using-handbrake/?s=hellowhich means the search widget is searching only the current page. This didn’t happen with any other theme I used before and it is clearly an issue because one would like to search the entire blog from the search widget, not just the current page.
As a temporary workaround till it gets fixed, I have enabled the search widget only on my homepage and hiding it everywhere else.
