Widgets do not appear on the home page

Widgets appear on all subsequent pages but not on the home page. Can you please help? Thanks.

Please consult your theme description and note that the theme is not designed to display widgets on the front page.

You can configure a sidebar on single posts and pages by going to Appearance → Widgets. -
My side bar with widgets appear on the first post , but the post I am working on does not show the sidebar when I view it. It shows a single column. My dashboard shows that I have widgets. Armitageagonistes.wordpress.com

I apologize. I thought my post got lost. I saw it post the first time, then when I tried to leave the page I got a “you will lose your post” message and didn’t see the my published post. I guess I was already on another page.
