Widgets don’t show on individual posts. :(
-
I have searched the forums and found a few posts that mentioned this, but no real solution. I have messed with the CSS and gotten my blog to look exactly how I want, except when I click on individual posts or to read comments, the widgets go away. They only show on the home page. Can this be fixed? Any advice would be very appreciated!
Here is my blog…

I’m assuming this is a CSS problem rather than a widget problem. Is the display somehow suppressed on individual posts?
(Huh, FWIW another blog today that shows “content=”WordPress MU” in the source file.)

Thanks for responding! If it is suppressed in individual posts, how would I know? Is there something to look for in the CSS?

Since I am seriously CSS challenged, I’ve marked this topic with a CSS tag in the hopes that one of the few CSS gurus around will pop over and look.

Bummer!
@wpvstp-how could you tell it was Kubrick (asking so I don’t make a mistake again)?
-
oh, ok thanks. I thought it did b/c I found a list of features in another forum and it said it did have widgets on post pages, but oh well. thanks!

@justjennifer
I had my suspicions, so I viewed the source code and followed the rel link for the style sheet. -
@fourlegsphotography-the best way to check a theme is to preview it under Design beforehand. Even though you are going to be changing the CSS, the underlying HTML template won’t change.
Also, whatever you may find somewhere else about WordPress in general doesn’t necessarily apply to WordPress.COM
@wpvstp-thanks, next time I’ll look before leaping.(!)

@fourlegs
As justjennifer says, it’s a good idea to preview your blog in full before settling for a theme. See how the posts look like, comments, blockquotes, captions, numbered and ordered lists, tag clouds,archives, search, etc. etc. All work different in different themes, so it’s a good idea to check things out first.@jennifer
You’re welcome. I leap sometimes, too, and then you put me right (can’t remember when right now, but I’m sure there must have been some occasions). -
I think I can live with it. It is my favorite theme for my photography and I made it very simple just how I like. I found that if you click on my header, you go back to the home page and maybe people will catch on to that? I hope so…
-
@fourlegsphotography-Ah, simplicity was the reason I chose “The Journalist” for my photography blog. It’s very minimalistic, the image size is quite large (though not as large as yours) and the sidebar is visible everywhere. Being CSS impaired I had to choose between the themes already available.
@wpvstp, I think I might have to challenge you to a side-by-side comparison list, my friend, because in the “Leap First” category, I’m do believe I’m ahead! ;D
