Widgets Editing/Deleting Outsource Widgets

Before the changes made to the Dashboard I added couple of widgets, one of them of del.icio.us with a link to my del.icio.us links. For some reason no list of my links showes on my blog, but the headline links directly to my account (I did add tags on the widget). Anyway, I wanted to delete it from my widget list but now there is no Edit option on this widget alone, so I can’t moderate it in any way.

By the way, I tried to add some widget from an outside source (some kind of countdown clock). I wrote down the HTML code in a Text widget, but it don’t show on my blog. When I go to edit it, the only code visible is of an image.

That’s because it uses javascript. Most tickers do. Javascript is banned for security reasons. I know the ones from Tickerfactory.com work here, but they’re primitive.

Try doing a search for “Codes for WordPress” because there’s a very long thread with all kinds of widget codes in it. Something like 100 posts long.

I’d like to add that I’m also having a problem editing/removing a widget I’ve just added. The widget displays just fine, but I need to edit the link I inserted into it and no ‘edit’ option appears. I’ve tried refreshing/clearing my cache, but to no avail.

    Can anyone help, please?

Thanks, raincoaster, I’ll check it out.

I join barbedwire, still waiting for an answer to my other question.

I have the same problem. All the other widgets have the “edit” button there, but not the one that has a longer title. So I can’t edit that widget anymore… :(

No new word about this? It seems like a common problem.

Yes, it is. There are a couple of threads on it including a very long thread covering several issues (100 or so posts) somewhere in the Support forum. I can’t find it right now, but you might be able to find it via a forum search or clicking on Support forum button and scrolling back.

Usually I would try to find it but I’m extremely pressed for time lately between computer crashes. And the search function’s not working well, but you can try.

Actually, I found something that may help others: When you put the cursor over the problematic widget, when it becomes a pointing finger click it and the widget opens for edit/delete. For me it worked, so others may try it. Consider this thread solved.

    Thanks again, raincoaster.
